A man from Batavia was charged by deputies with DWI over the weekend. The man was stopped by police Monday night in the Town of Royalton. It is unknown what exactly led police to stop his vehicle. He received other charges as well but he was charged with DWI under Leandra’s Law.

Leandra’s Law increases the penalty for DWI offenders if at that time of the offense they are driving with a passenger 15 years old or younger. In this case the man had two 13 year old passengers in the vehicle with him at the time. He has also been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He is also charged with two counts of felony aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law.
