The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department set up a DWI checkpoint on Central Avenue. The checkpoint was set up Thursday which ran from 11 pm until 3 am. The CMPD received assistance from the Matthews Police Department and Cornelius Police Department.

Police charged four people with DWI during the checkpoint. The police charged several others as well with a total of 73 people either charged or cited. The charges including felony drug charges and possession of marijuana charges. There were also several other traffic citations issued.
