These summer days in the city are not for the faint of heart. It’s humid, sticky, and most of us try to avoid that midday heat wave as much as possible. However, the evenings are a different story. As the sun sets over the city, and the humidity lays off a bit— many drinking age Charlotteans are taking to the streets for a well-spent night on the town. If you’re one of the locals, or even if you’re visiting for a weekend— you might be wondering what the best city view drinking spots are to have a beer, or a luxurious cocktail, with friends. So, we’re here to help…

City View Drinking Spots: Charlotte’s Scenic Drinking

For a laid-back, casual evening with friends…

Consider checking out Unknown Brewing. In the past year, Unknown has gotten some serious upgrades to their facility. New fixtures, a second (and third) bar, as well as a second story. From that second story, you have a beautiful view of the city and a great place to celebrate a Panthers win, or mourn a loss. Either way, you have a grade A city view drinking spot in this place.

If you’re looking for a quality local bar with a city view, check out whiskey warehouse, peculiar rabbit, or brickyard. Chances are if you ask a local where they’re headed this weekend, one of these stops will be a common answer. Whiskey Warehouse is in Plaza Midwood, as is Peculiar Rabbit, while Brickyard hails from South End— quite close to the light rail stop.

For a night with a dress code…

Some might be looking for a laid back vibe; others might be looking to throw on a pair of heels. Therefore, you might want to check out Charlotte’s upscale bar scene. The obvious choice and a view you’ll recognize from is that of Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit offers one of the most popular upscale city view drinking spots, and a pretty special view.

However, in the past year, it has slowly found stiff competition in two other high-end rooftop options. Merchant & Trade and City Lights Rooftop tout a similar vibe, view, and exclusivity. You will find these two spots at the top of Le Meridien hotel, and the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel. These are great options if you’re looking for an upscale cocktail, a glass of whiskey, or a quick bite while overlooking the city.

For an evening that’s right there in the middle…

Lastly, for a night that might cost a bit more than your Brickyard visit, but much less than a night at Fahrenheit— try a mid-range option such as Ink n Ivy. Ink n Ivy is in the heart of the city. Therefore, it offers a pretty fantastic view of BB&T ballpark, Bank of America Stadium and a few other staples of the Charlotte Skyline. When it comes to city view drinking spots, Ink n Ivy is absolutely one to stop in. Whether it’s for a meal, a quick beer, or an evening under the outside bar awning, add this place to your list at least once.

No matter the evening, drink responsibly

There are plenty of options when it comes to your destination(s) for the evening. However, make sure you’re getting there safely— and without any DUI’s. Take an Uber, Lyft, use a DD or stay in a walkable area. Whatever your city view drinking spots choice may be— drink responsibly.
