A 23-year-old from Charlotte was travelling westbound down Old Concord Road in East Charlotte last Saturday when he was hit head-on by a drunk driver.
The collision occurred around 6:20 Saturday morning, on the 6300 block of Old Concord Road.
The NC police report stated that both men had been travelling down Old Concord at the same time, yet the defendant was travelling east, and the victim was going west.
The intoxicated defendant swerved over the yellow line and into oncoming traffic. From there, he lost control of his his vehicle and smashed into the young defendant head-on, causing serious injury to both the victim and his 1999 Nissan sedan.
Both men were immediately taken to Carolinas Medical Center; the defendant with only a few bumps and bruises, but the 23-year-old is currently in a life-threatening condition.
Due to the severity of the accident, there was no time to take the defendant’s BAC level, but blood test report that he was infact over the legal limit at the time of the accident.
Insomuch, he is being charged with DWI, Felony DWI for Serious Injury to Another, and Improper Passing of a Vehicle.
The rest of the crash and details thereof are still under investigation.
