A high school principal from Hyde County was arrested for DWI over the weekend. Police discovered he was intoxicated after the vehicle he was driving was involved in an accident. The accident occurred around 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. He crashed into a utility pole then the vehicle eventually stopped in a grassy area. It is believed he drove through a curve in the road too fast and over-corrected. The vehicle he was driving at the time belongs to the school board.
Police arrived at the scene of the accident and arrested the principle for DWI. His BAC was a .11. The principal is currently on leave from his job while school officials investigate the situation.
