The arrest numbers have been released from North Carolina’s “Booze It & Lose It” campaign which ran through St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The campaign ran from March 15th– 17th. A total of 690 people were charged with DWI. There were 2,391 DWI checkpoints and dedicated patrols set up during that period.
The Counties with the highest number of DWI arrests were Wake with 54, Guilford with 33, and Forsyth with 31. Several other traffic tickets were issued. Other criminal violations were discovered during the campaign including 555 drug charges and 407 fugitives from justice were found. Officers also recovered 9 stolen vehicles.
Mecklenburg County had a total of 15 DWI arrests, set up 3 DWI checkpoints and conducted 81 focused patrols.
