What started out as a routine traffic stop in Lincoln County ended with deputies ended with three people being charged with felony drug charges. The incident occurred after deputies observed a vehicle traveling on U.S. 321 that failed to dim its headlights for oncoming traffic. After approaching the driver of the vehicle the officer could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver consented to a search of the vehicle.
Officers found a plastic bag that contained 15 grams of crack cocaine, 2 grams of marijuana and digital scales covered with white powder. There were two other passengers in the car who police say were carrying large amounts of cash on them. The driver has been charged with maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and conspiracy to sell and deliver a controlled substance. The passengers were charged with similar crimes.
