As you may be aware, NY Knicks point guard Jason Kidd was arrested last summer for DUI in New York. Kidd allegedly crashed his SUV into a light pool and was arrested for DUI. Kidd had his first appearance this past week and entered a plea of not guilty. The most interesting part of this case is that following the accident, Kidd posted on Twitter that he was ashamed and apologetic for his actions.
This tweet begs the question of whether or not the prosecution can us it against him during the trial. Whenever you or someone is charged with a crime it is very important to not make any statements regarding the case. Those statements could be viewed as admissions of guilt, especially when the statement is voluntary and put in the public. Our law firm constantly advices clients to not make any statements regarding a case, whether that be on twitter, facebook, or any other type of social media.
