Northbound I-77 in Charlotte was forced to be closed after an accident that occurred in the early morning hours on Monday. The accident when a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of I-77. Motorists called 911 to report the vehicle but unfortunately an accident happened before police could respond.
The vehicle that was traveling the wrong way hit another vehicle in the side of the vehicle. The vehicle that was hit was sent spinning. The driver of the victim vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the southbound vehicle was found in his vehicle in a wooded area off the road. He was taken to the hospital and charges are currently pending. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the accident.
