A deputy has been charged with DWI as of Tuesday morning. The incident occurred in Onslow County, however the deputy was employed in Pender County. Law Enforcement became aware that a deputy was driving erratically on the roads due to people calling 911. The deputy was in a marked patrol car at the time traveling on U.S. 17.
Not long after receiving calls about the patrol car driving erratically the deputy hit another vehicle. The deputy was taken to a hospital after the incident but the extent of his injuries are unknown. He has been charged with DWI, failing to reduce speed to avoid colliding with a vehicle and reckless driving. The deputy had been employed by Pender County since 2009 but has now been fired.
